Propulsion Systems
Our research and development department have been working on Solid Rocket Booster designs for commercial applications. We are currently working on designs for amongst other things, Single Stage to Orbit (SSTO) systems, High Altitude test vehicles, conceptual spacecraft design, docking and escape systems.
We aim to develop applications for the next level of space exploration – commercial spaceflight is fast becoming a reality, and we aim to work on developing systems and practical solutions.
We are also looking at microsatellite launch systems and environmental projects. Our staff have had many dealings with NASA, ESA and NASDA, with an interest in taking these technologies to their next level of evolution.
We are developing a small scale aerospike engine for a variety of aerospacial applications. This type of engine maintains its efficiency at a wide range of altitudes by means of its altitude compensating nozzle. Aerospike engines use 25-30% less fuel at low altitudes, at a time when most applications have the greatest demand for thrust. These are the principle choice for SSTO vehicles, although none have made it to commercial or military manuafacture at present. These will soon become reality.
